Nvidia’s Shield Tablet K1 is now receiving Android 7.0 Nougat

Although the hype surrounding tablets are certainly died down quite a bit over the years, there are still plenty of good options to choose from. Apple’s iPad still remains as the king if money isn’t an object and you want the best of the best, options such as the Asus ZenPad Z8 and 3S 10 offer a lot of bang for your buck, and if you’re looking to spend no more than $200 but still want something that’s enjoyable to use, you’ve got devices like the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1. The Shield Tablet K1 was originally released back in 2015, but despite its age, it still has quite a lot to offer for just $199 – including an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display, Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5,200 mAh battery, and expandable storage.
The tablet initially launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop and then got bumped up to 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and last month we got word that the K1 would soon be receiving an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. That was back on January 18, and today Nvidia has started the official Nougat rollout for the device. Along with the standard host of improvements that Android Nougat features, including a split screen mode for running two apps side-by-side, a reworked notification tray, and plenty more, Nvidia has included some exclusive new additions as well.
